Christmas with the Davis'

On Saturday, we had Christmas with Andy's parents and Andy's brother and his family. Andy's mom made the traditional chili and potato soup, along with challah bread and salads...and, of course, enough desserts to feed an army! Everything was delicious! The kids had a great time playing together...rowdy and loud, but kids will be kids. Overall, it was a great time!

Boys' Night Out

Friday night, Andy was finally feeling better from the flu, so he went for a guys' night out with his best friend, Kevin (although I tagged along for dinner). Kevin just completed chemo and looked great...he definitely needed a night out! We ate Chinese for dinner, and then the guys went back to Kevin's house for a night of video games. Andy said he had fun and wished they could get together more often...the golf courses here are ready for you, Kevin!!!

Christmas with the Simmons'

We spent Christmas Day with my whole family which includes my parents, my older sister and her family, and my younger sister. We had a great lunch fixed by my mom (who proved she can still cook, although she only does it once a year), and then we visited and opened gifts. A.J. had a great time playing with his cousins, and Isaac finally got to meet his aunts, uncle, and cousins!!!

Girls' Day Out

On Wednesday, I went out with one of my best friends from nursing school, Patience. PT and I had a great time reminiscing about crazy times in nursing school and catching up on current times. Of course, we had to have a margarita!!! Love you, PT!!!

PT and I enjoying our drinks (or what's left of them, anyway)!

This is what I got for asking the waiter to take our picture

Girls' Night Out

So, after our first weekend in IL and dealing with a newborn, a 3-year-old, and a hubby with the flu, I needed a night out. Luckily, three of my best friends that I have been friends with since grade school were all available for a girls' night out. We went to Basta's, an Italian restaurant here in town. We had a good time enjoying each others company, reminiscing about old times, and catching up on what was happening in everyone's lives. And, of course, we had to have dessert (cause calories don't count on girls' night out)!

First Snow

Friday morning, we awoke to beautiful ice and snow covering everything! I couldn't resist braving the elements to get a snapshot of Isaac experiencing his first snow (much to Andy's dismay)!!! Later, we enjoyed lunch with Andy's brother, sister-in-law, and niece at Steak-N-Shake (Mmmm)! Then we loaded up the car and made the long trip to my parents (okay, 5 minute trip, at the most). We enjoyed another one of our favorites...Busy Corner (Andy, unfortunately, got to "enjoy" it twice, as he ended up with the flu).

We don't have to bundle up like this in AZ!!!

Christmas Vacation

So, Thursday we got an early start to the day. We woke up early, got ready, and drove to the airport for our 8:20 flight. Little did we know, our flight would be delayed 3 hours!!! The plane that we were supposed to fly on was coming in from Las Vegas...who just happened to have a snow storm the night before. Who would have thought our flight out of Phoenix in the middle of the desert would be delayed due to snow!!! Our plane finally arrived, we boarded, and headed toward IL. Both boys did exceptionally well on the flight, despite the delay. Grandma and Grandpa Davis picked us up at the airport and were quite excited to meet Isaac for the first time. We made the 3-hour trek back to our hometown through an ice storm. We had to stop a couple of times to scrape the ice off of the windshield and break the ice off of the wipers, but we finally made it!!!

The time had finally come for Grandma and Grandpa to hold their newest grandson!!!

Sleep!!!

So, here I am, at 5am, waiting for Isaac to wake up!!! We fed him last night at 9, put him down around 10pm, and he is still asleep!!! Yay!!!

Santa Came!!!

Well, I guess everybody was good this year, as Santa came to our house last night. A.J. had a lot of fun opening presents...Isaac didn't know what was going on. This year, we let A.J. pick out a couple of presents for Mommy and Daddy. Mommy ended up getting a Mega Blocks fire truck and zoo animals. Daddy got wind-up chattering teeth, ring toss, and a car...it was funny, needless to say, to see what he thought Mommy and Daddy would like :) A.J.'s big present was his wheel loader tractor. He is having a lot of fun hauling things in it. A.J. was also very excited that Santa drank the milk and ate the cookies...Santa even left A.J. and Isaac a thank-you note!!!

Santa Claus is Comin'...a little early!!!

This year, Mommy & Daddy had to make a special request that Santa come visit our house a little early (we're going to be at Grandma & Grandpa's on Christmas). So the boys decided to sport their Christmas pj's, as Santa will come tonight!!!

One Month Check-up

We took Isaac to the doctor's office today for his one month check-up. The doctor said he was a very healthy baby. He weighed 11 lbs 3.5 oz (75-90%) and was 23 inches long (90-95%). Andy and I both think he is really "filling out"...in other words, he's a chunk!

Don't Pee in My Eye!!!

So, Andy was finishing up feeding Isaac the other day and then went to change his diaper. We heard A.J. saying "I don't want him to pee in my eye!" The next thing we knew, A.J. had gotten his goggles from his toys, put them on, and went to help Daddy change diapers!!!

One Month!!!

I can't believe Isaac is one month old already! It seems like just yesterday that I was having A.J., much less Isaac!!! He is still doing well and I consider him a very good baby. He still eats about every four hours, but will sometimes go about 5 hours during the night, so we still only have to get up once a night (can't complain about that). He's pretty alert during the day, and is starting to smile and interact a bit more...just starting to get to that fun stage!!!

We almost got a smile out of him

Just posing for the camera

Had to get this one because Grandma never thinks our kids throw fits!!!

It's Santa!!!

Today, A.J. and I were trying to decide what to do. I asked him if he wanted to go to the mall to see Santa. At first, he said no, but then he decided he wanted to go. What a difference a year makes! Last year, he was so excited to see Santa, but when we actually got up close to him, he started wailing (and I mean WAILING)!!! This year, everytime we ask if he wants to go see him, he gets a look of fright on his face and says no, so when he had a change of heart, we jumped at the chance! He was hesitant at first, but then he went right up, sat on his lap, and told him everything he wanted for Christmas (which included a crane, excavator, wheel-loader, concrete mixer...can you tell Daddy works for Caterpillar?). Isaac, of course, slept through the whole thing...I'm sensing a pattern with him :)
