Ryan's Birthday & My "Redneck" Baby!!!

Last week, A.J. went to a birthday party for one of his friends and classmates, Ryan. The party was at Peter Piper Pizza (kind of like a Chuck E. Cheese's), and all the kids had a great time! They ate pizza, cake, played games, and won prizes (A.J. won a giant Pixie stick...just what we need, more sugar). Even Isaac got in on the action and had fun! He was in his stroller most of the time, eating puffs. One of the puffs got stuck on his upper lip, and I thought it looked like redneck teeth (hope I don't offend any rednecks out there)! He's my little "Mater"!!!

One of Those Days!!!

Today has just been one of those days (of course it has...Andy left today on business)!!! Nothing major has happened, just a culmination of little things. First, I was checking my email this morning and turned around and this is what I saw:

Isaac has figured out how to crawl on top of the train table! Not only did he figure that out, he also figured out how to crawl to the end of the table and stand with the help of the tote! Just what we need...a 10-month old standing on tables! Next, A.J. came up to me and told me he checked Isaac's diaper and it was poopy. This is nothing unusual, as A.J. often checks Isaac's diaper by pulling on the back of it and looking in...nope, not this time! Here's what I found next:

Yep, A.J. undid the tabs of Isaac's diaper and it came off (yes, that is A.J. in a Spiderman costume...he just picked it out for Halloween). Fortunately, Isaac was not poopy, as A.J. had said; unfortunately Isaac peed all over the floor :-( So I cleaned him up and just as I was getting ready to clean the floors, Isaac tried to pull up on the train table and lost his balance...he hit the side of his head right on the edge of the train table. Here are the results:

Notice he is laughing in the first picture. He cried when he first hit, but soon he was crawling and playing and laughing, so I assume he is okay. I'll keep an eye on him for a while, but I think he'll be fine. Then, literally as I was beginning this post, I turned around to see what the boys were up to, and this is how I found Isaac:The little stinker crawled up in the chair all by himself and was standing and laughing, having a good time (notice the red mark on his poor head). Something tells me I'm going to have to keep an eye on him at all times! He's going to be my climber!!!

AZ Science Center

Yesterday, we got another pass from the library to visit the Arizona Science Center. A.J. loved this place! It was very interactive and A.J. loved all they had to do. There was a building exhibit, a toddler area for Isaac, the human body exhibit, the physics room, the digital room, forces of nature exhibit, etc. I can tell A.J. wants to go back again real soon. Since A.J. was good all weekend, he and Andy had a "camp out" last night. They made smores and told scary stories. And since it is still too hot to camp outside, they put a blanket over the bed to make a tent. A.J. wants to camp out again tonight!!!

A.J. doing the balancing act learning about equilibrium

Laying on the bed of nails

Making a vortex of fog

Learning about erosion and making rivers

This was part of the digital room...A.J. was catching the pebbles that were falling from the sky

This is what it looked like from the other side...notice all the pebbles A.J. is collecting on his shoulders!!!

AZ Museum for Youth

Andy was on rolling layoffs this past week, so we took advantage of his time off and visited a couple of museums in the area (luckily, our library has passes to these museums that can be checked out and you can visit for free)! Last Friday, we went to the Arizona Museum for Youth in Mesa. It had a lot of arts and crafts-type things for the kids to do. The museum itself was not very big, but A.J. did not seem to mind and had fun there. It killed a morning for us anyway :-)

Isaac was kind of crabby that morning, but I think his sad face is super cute!

Soccer

A.J. had his first soccer game last Saturday. It was a total disaster!!! A.J. was hot and crabby and had a complete meltdown...he refused to play in the game, refused to sit with his team, and just sat and cried and threw a temper tantrum the whole game! Needless to say, he got into major trouble!!! This week was his second game, and he was a completely different person! He played almost the entire game, scored a couple of goals, and said he had a ton of fun!!! Let's hope the latter continues for the rest of the season ;-)

The "Bug"

I haven't posted in a while and there's good reason for that...we've been hit with a bug, and we've been hit hard! A.J. first got the cold (I assume from school) and had it for about a week...nothing major with him, just the typical runny nose and cough. Then the following week, Isaac caught it. After about 2 weeks, he finally started running a fever, so I took him to the doctor. They think he has a sinus infection, so they gave him some antibiotics. Then over the weekend, Andy and I both got some sort of flu-bug. I was out Thursday thru Saturday and Andy had it Saturday thru Sunday. Now A.J. is starting to get another cold, and this morning, Isaac was running a low-grade fever again! We can't catch a break lately!!!

Isaac is pulling up on everything now!
